WELCOME TO SALMON HOCKEY
What you see above, it doesn’t get any better than
this. The signage stenciled above the bench area of the Salmon Hockey Rink
may be a bit unpolished, but the message is sincere. We have grown from a
bit of frozen ground in the park, then a 2/3rds size hockey rink at the
high school and now to a full size, full service hockey facility on four
acres that is complimented by a 25,000 square foot recreational skating area
complete with bonfire to be used free of charge by all. The only thing
missing is a roof and four walls, and truthfully, we aren’t sure we want
that part to change. All you have to do is get here, want to have fun and
bring your skates. The Salmon Hockey owns the ice and we have plenty of
inexpensive ice time. Our youth house rec hockey program goes from Mites
through Midgets/High School plus a U19 Girls team and we are the home of the
Idaho Mites Winter Games which happens generally during the month of
February. Our adult program consists of a “strictly for fun” group and a
competitive group which hosts an annual tournament. Our motto is “A kid on
ice is a kid out of hot water”. The Salmon Hockey Association is a
volunteer based group committed to bringing the joy of skating to the
children in the Salmon area and their families. We strive to provide a
quality ice hockey facility, safe recreational skating and an instructional
and competitive hockey program. Located at the confluence of the Lemhi and
Salmon Rivers, Salmon is known as the Gateway to the River of No Return
Wilderness and also as the Whitewater Capitol of the World. Salmon and
Lemhi County are important points on the Lewis and Clark Trail. When you
think hockey, we invite you all to consider Salmon Hockey. We are use to
traveling being approximately 140 to 170 miles from the nearest other hockey
venues being Sun Valley, ID, Idaho Falls, ID and Missoula, MT and enjoy
exploring new ice while making new acquaintances. All we ask for you to
skate our ice too. Come and enjoy hockey at its grassroots, outdoors in the
crisp winter air, we think you’ll be hooked. It truly doesn’t get any
better than this.
